The NFL has ultimately moved the Week 11 clash between the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns to Ford Field in Detroit as Buffalo prepares for a potentially historic snowstorm.

“Due to public safety concerns and out of an abundance of caution in light of the ongoing weather emergency in western New York, Sunday’s Cleveland Browns-Buffalo Bills game will be moved to Ford Field in Detroit at 1 p.m. ET,” the NFL announced. “The decision to move the game from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY was done in consultation with the Buffalo Bills and local and state authorities a s the region prepares for the storm.

New York governor Kathy Hochul already issued a state of emergency for Buffalo this week, as this storm is expected to dump a record-setting amount of snow in the region.

Where is the Browns-Bills game moved to?

The game between the AFC teams will still be played at 1pm ET time, in the enclosed confines of Ford Field.

Fortunately for the two teams, Ford Field is open because the Detroit Lions are on their bye week.

Coincidentally, the Bills next two games will be played in Detroit. Buffalo takes on the Lions at Ford Field on Thanksgiving that following Thursday.

The wildest snow games in Buffalo

The Bills have played in some of the roughest NFL games in the history of the sport.

Their wildest snow game came in 2016 when they played the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers ended up winning mostly for Le’Veon Bell’s 236 yards and three touchdowns, but both teams were able to score.

The last time the Bills and the Browns played in snow was in 2009, where the Browns won 6-3. Two years earlier, both teams played in mid-December, and Cleveland also won the nasty game 8-0.

That same year, the Bills took on the Indianapolis Colts in 2007 and won 13-7, scuffling through 8-9 inches of snowfall, and “thundersnow.”
