For a while there, the talk of the town was that Deion Sanders could potentially return to the Dallas Cowboys as their next head coach. That was before we even knew for sure whether or not Mike McCarthy would be returning.

Once they decided to split, however, and once Coach Sanders shot down the idea, the rumors died down. The Cowboys since then have only interviewed pretty safe choices like Kellen Moore and Brian Schottenheimer, rather than the coaches originally on the rumor mill like Sanders, Bill Belichick, and Ben Johnson.

Of the flashy names rumored to be in the Cowboys’ interest, though, Sanders is the only one still potentially available. He is technically still the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, but the other two just signed brand new contracts with new teams, while Sanders could still make a potential move.

Shadeur shares his thoughts on Deion to Dallas

Sanders has since said that he’s “intrigued” by a potential move to the Cowboys and has since spoken with owner Jerry Jones, but said that he’s happy with his current situation as well.

Sanders' son, Shadeur Sanders, who was his quarterback for the Buffaloes and is now entering the NFL Draft for 2025, has decided to weigh in on his father’s potential move to Dallas, where he played for five years as a cornerback.

Unfortunately, his two cents didn’t add much to the conversation, besides just bringing it back into the conversation.

“It’s not really up to me. I don’t really have a say in anything at all,” Shedeur said on the latest episode of his 2Legendary podcast. “I’m coming into the league, I don’t have too much of a say so. I’m just thankful for whatever situation comes.”

No one really has complete control over this situation, although some analysts like ESPN reporter Ed Werder seem to think that Deion would definitely take the job if it were offered to him, and thus the ball is in Jerry’s court.
