Look what you made her do! Through an appearance on the I AM ATHLETE podcast, Brandon Marshall, former NFL player, revealed that Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, were ejected from Super Bowl LVIII at the request of Taylor Swift. According to statements from the ex-wide receiver, the ‘No More Parties in L.A.’ performer acquired tickets to witness the Chiefs vs 49ers showdown live, inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Taylor makes call and Kanye removed

Interestingly, the purchased tickets were in front of the suite that Travis Kelce had bought for Taylor Swift along with her family and friends. As Marshall recounts, Ye’s plan was to overshadow the 34-year-old superstar by appearing in her shot whenever the spotlight was on her, but Taylor wasn’t going to let this happen. The artist only had to make a couple of calls to get rid of the acclaimed rapper.

“He’s got a mask with his logo on it, typical Kanye,” the former athlete revealed. “Taylor Swift gets pissed off, she boom boom, makes a call or two. Everybody’s involved. He gets kicked out the stadium! He was trying to leverage her celebrity.”

What’s up with Taylor Swift and Kanye West?

The beef between Taylor and Kanye began in 2009, at the MTV Video Music Awards. In that edition, Swift won the award in the category of ‘Best Female Video’ for ‘You Belong With Me’. West, who was in the audience, clearly disagreed with the result, so he went up on stage and snatched the microphone from a 17-year-old Tay during her acceptance speech to assert that the award, in reality, belonged to Beyoncé for ‘Single Ladies’. As President Obama said at the time, “jackass!” Here’s that moment:

The controversy escalated in 2016 when the rapper mentioned the singer in his hit ‘Famous’: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.” As expected, Swift called out Ye for mentioning her without her consent, to which Kim Kardashian, then the rapper’s wife, leaked an edited phone call in which supposedly Taylor agreed with West’s line.

Many people turned against Taylor. The artist disappeared for about a year, but came back stronger than ever and managed to redeem her career by releasing her album Reputation, which contains a song dedicated to Kanye and Kim: ‘Look What You Made Me Do’.

With 2024 still in its infancy, West has attempted to reignite the controversy, and not only by trying to overshadow her at the Super Bowl. Through his latest studio album, ‘Vultures’, Kanye once again asserts that he made Swift famous and six other artists like her. Maybe he should try grabbing the mic from her again when she picks up yet another award... with the Kelce brothers near at hand.
