Theses are the best NFL rookies to draft for your fantasy football team for the 2025 season
Drafting a rookie on your fantasy team is a risk, but it’s often one worth taking as we see more impactful players each year. Don’t sleep on these in 2025.
It’s always a gamble to draft a rookie onto your NFL fantasy lineup, but in recent years, we’ve seen several breakout stars like Justin Jefferson (2020) and Ja’Marr Chase (2021) make an immediate impact.
Wide receivers are typically a strong bet. They have delivered elite fantasy production in recent years, with Jefferson and Chase being great examples. Puka Nacua entered his rookie season with an ADP of 293 overall in PPR league and ended the season as a top-five fantasy receiver.
That doesn’t mean running backs can’t impact your team too though. They may be more prone to injuries, but if they can stay healthy, we’ve seen players like Najee Harris (2021) and Jahmyr Gibbs (2023) put up significant points in fantasy in their rookie seasons as well. Last year, Bucky Irving ended up being a top-15 back after being selected 52nd on average in fantasy leagues.
Of course, not every rookie is going to be a breakout star in their first season - and clearly, it’s hard to predict. But it’s becoming more common every year and there are some signs to look out for. The success of rookies in the NFL (and thus their impact on your fantasy team) depend on several factors. They need to have a clear role and high usage, exceptional talent, and be in good health. In 2025, here are the rookies you definitely shouldn’t sleep on.
NFL rookies to draft to your fantasy league in 2025
Travis Hunter, WR - Jacksonville Jaguars
Hunter adds an explosive spark to Jacksonville’s offense, with the kind of after-the-catch burst that can flip a game in one play. His ball skills are elite, and while the Jaguars may ease him into offensive snaps, he carries weekly boom potential. Fantasy managers can view him as a WR3 with the ability to spike into WR2 territory when opportunities align.
Ashton Jeanty, RB - Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders didn’t draft Jeanty to sit. He’s stepping right into a feature role. A workhorse at Boise State, he led the nation in rushing yards and forced missed tackles last year, showcasing both power and big-play juice. Now in Vegas, his mix of volume and pass-catching upside sets him up to be an immediate RB1 candidate.
Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Carolina Panthers
At 6’4”, McMillan gives Carolina a versatile target who can win outside on contested catches or work inside against zones. He isn’t a burner, but his polish and size make him a natural fit for quarterback Bryce Young’s developing offense. With plenty of looks coming his way, he looks to be a steady WR3 with room to grow.
Omarion Hampton, RB - Los Angeles Chargers
Hampton runs like a hammer, bringing size, downhill force, and the kind of balance that wears defenses down. He also flashes sneaky explosiveness in the screen game, which makes him more than just a short-yardage option. As a rookie, he should carve out enough touches in LA to settle in as a dependable RB2 option.
Jaydon Blue, RB - Dallas Cowboys
Blue’s speed is game-changing. His 4.38 combine time backs up the tape of a runner who can turn a crease into six points. He’s fluid as a receiver and has the skill set to carve out a role right away. If he pushes past Javonte Williams on the depth chart, Blue’s upside could make him one of this year’s biggest late-round fantasy steals.
