The Jacksonville Jaguars’ No. 2 overall pick is serious about playing both sides of the ball in the NFL and he’s got a message for those who question that.
Managing Travis Hunter’s rare two-way role has become a central focus of Jacksonville Jaguars training camp. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Hunter is expected to contribute at both wide receiver and cornerback, just as he did in college.
Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile has praised first-year head coach Liam Coen for his precise handling of Hunter’s demanding schedule, calling it “unbelievable” and “impressive.” The coaching staff is carefully coordinating Hunter’s meeting times and on-field reps, ensuring he can maximize his impact on both sides of the ball.
While Hunter is slated to start at receiver, he’s also being prepared for defensive snaps, suggesting the Jaguars are preparing to ultimately deploy him in a major two-way role once the season begins.
As for Hunter? He’s fully embracing the roles, and he’s got something to say for those who doubt his ability to do both.

Despite some skepticism about whether his two-way college dominance will translate at the professional level, Hunter remains unfazed.
“I’m gonna just be quiet and go to work,” Hunter said. “It actually makes me smile [to hear the doubters]. They don’t know what to say so they’re just gonna keep hating.”
Coen has outlined a detailed plan to split Hunter’s time between offense and defense during training camp. With elite stats from his final year at Colorado and a confident mindset, Hunter is poised to be one of the NFL’s most talked-about rookies in 2025.
