Trevor Lawrence surprised with his wife after giving birth to their 10-pound daughter: “Marissa is a champion”
The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback recently became a father.
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is having an off-season to remember after his wife Marissa gave birth to their baby girl Shae Lynn on January 4.
While the 25-year-old is a seasoned pro on the field, Lawrence admitted that he is “still adjusting” to being a father, telling PEOPLE that it has been “an awesome” experience so far.
‘Life’s different, but it’s amazing'
“She’s great, I mean, it definitely just changes your perspective; changes how you operate just on a day-to-day basis. The whole day obviously revolves around just one person you’re taking care of now, so it’s just, life’s different, but it’s amazing,” he says.
One thing that surprised the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft was the size of the baby; at 10lbs. 2oz., she’s no slouch: “she was not a small baby, so Marissa’s a champ,” Lawrence beamed. “Seeing her go through that, and now she’s recovered and feeling great — it’s pretty amazing to see your partner go through that.”
“In that newborn stage, they develop so quick, they grow so quick”, he added. “It’s just, every day she’s more alert. You can tell, she’s starting to figure out a little bit of what’s going on.”
Meanwhile, Tony Boselli, the Jaguars’ executive vice president of football operations, recently showed huge support for Lawrence, saying “We believe that we have a franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence. I’ll pound the table for that one... You’ve got to help a quarterback have consistency and build with him, and build it around him.”

The Jaguars have a 22-38 record in the 60 games that Lawrence has started across his first four NFL seasons. During a 2024 season blighted by injury, he completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 2,045 yards with 11 touchdown passes and seven interceptions over 10 games.
