Trump congratulates Chiefs on third straight Super Bowl by making it about himself
President Donald Trump congratulated the Kansas City Chiefs on another trip to the Super Bowl with a Truth Social post.

The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to their third straight Super Bowl to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 9. The team received a personal congratulations from the president of the United States, Donald Trump.
Trump’s egocentric congrats to Chiefs
As the Chiefs notched their third straight ticket to the Super Bowl this season with a 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills, Trump took to Truth Social to post his congratulations to the team. Yet somehow, as Trump manages to often do, he made it about himself:
“Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs. What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers.”

Trump also congratulated the Bills on their “tremendous season”, saying that he expects them to “do a lot of winning long into the future!!!”
The Chiefs will face the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in a rematch of 2022’s Super Bowl that saw the Chiefs defeat the Eagles 38-35. It’s interesting to see Trump congratulate the Chiefs, who were accused last year by Republicans of trying to sway the election.
Last year, the Chiefs won their second straight Super Bowl with pop star Taylor Swift in attendance, which had become custom once she started dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. As Joe Biden was seeking re-election at the time, some Republicans started the conspiracy theory that she and the Chiefs were trying to skew the election in the Democrats' favor.
As for the Eagles, they won the Super Bowl in 2018 when Trump was in office for his first term. It is customary for the winning team to meet the president. Trump, however, withdrew his invitation to the Eagles when some of the players planned to boycott the event due to Trump’s attacks on NFL players who kneeled during the national anthem in protest of police brutality.
Now that he’s won a second term, Trump seems to be okay with the Chiefs, but if the Eagles win, we will see if he’s forgiven them enough to give them an invitation to the White House. As it stands, he’s completely ignored their achievement and neglected to congratulate them.
