Update:

Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins report for training camp on July 22, and this year, maybe more than ever, there’s a focus on the quarterback.

Tua, once hailed as the next truly great Dolphin, enters a make-or-break 2025 season, hoping to shake off a string of injuries and prove he’s more than a what-if.

When is the Dolphins 2025 training camp?

Training camp returns to the Baptist Health Training Complex in Miami Gardens, where fans can attend 10 open practices starting on Saturday, July 26, part of the NFL’s “Back Together Weekend.” A joint session with the Jaguars on August 21 should add spice. But the real spotlight, at least for many, will be on Tua.

Last year, Miami missed the playoffs with an 8-9 record. Tagovailoa’s hip injury sidelined him for much of the campaign, and his durability remains a major concern after three concussions since entering the league. Yet former teammate Terron Armstead sees flashes of Drew Brees in him, calling his mentality “sniper mode.”

Dolphins eye positive 2025

If Tua stays healthy, he’ll have help. The Dolphins boast a dangerous trio in Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and tight end Jonnu Smith – assuming Smith ends his holdout. There’s talk that Mike McDaniel may edge more towards the run game this year to protect his quarterback and extend Tua’s shelf life.

There’s plenty riding on this season. For the Dolphins, for McDaniel, and definitely for Tua. Training camp is just the beginning... again.
