Vikings secure their secret weapon: Josh Oliver signs million-dollar extension
The Minnesota Vikings have tied down a key piece ahead of the 2025 season, rewarding the 28-year-old with a new deal.

Big-spending Minnesota Vikings have further increased the NFL’s highest 2025 payroll by offering a new deal to tight end Josh Oliver.
The 28-year-old has been given a three-year contract worth $23.25 million, rising as high as $27.5 million if bonuses are achieved. Oliver has started in 26 games for the Vikings over the last two seasons and recorded a career-high 258 receiving yards in 2024.
Oliver joined the league as a third round pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, before being traded to the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. After two seasons with the team he was a free agent signing for the Vikings and he has gone on to prove a shrewd signing.

The Vikings have secured the services of an adaptable piece for the roster, someone who played 30% of the Vikings’ special teams snaps in 2024.
The Vikings are looking to build a championship-winning team around quarterback J. J. McCarthy and Oliver’s new deal will be a part of that effort. ESPN reports that the Vikings have already committed $341 million in salaries for the 2025 NFL season.
In April the Vikings brought in quarterback Sam Howell and wide receiver Tai Felton, bolstering the roster ahead of the new season.
