What chances do the Bengals have of making the playoffs without Joe Burrow?

The quarterback was injured as the Bengals fell to the Ravens in a game halted for several minutes at the start of the fourth quarter due to a drone flying inside the stadium

Update:
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - NOVEMBER 16: Joe Burrow #9 of the Cincinnati Bengals looks on against the Baltimore Ravens during the second quarter of the game at M&T Bank Stadium on November 16, 2023 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered what appeared to be a non-contact wrist injury and was subsequently replaced as his team fell to the Baltimore Ravens (34-20)

On Friday, the Bengals head coach Zac Taylor revealed Burrow suffered a torn ligament in his wrist and he will now miss the remainder of the season. After the game, Burrow said he “felt a pop” after landing on his wrist during the play right before after he was under pressure from Ravens pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

Currently, the Browns only have two quarterbacks on the roster: veteran P.J. Walker and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The latter was designated as the starter to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11.

The former XFL player has taken the field in five games, but Watson’s injuries allowed him to start twice. Despite throwing five interceptions, the team managed to earn one of the two starts with Walker in charge. The Browns ‘10′ has accumulated 618 yards with a TD after completing 49 percent of his throws.

For his part, the rookie out of UCLA was already a starter in Week 4 when the Ravens crushed the Browns 28-23. In that game, Thompson-Robinson completed 19 of 36 throws for 121 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.

So, the question now is ‘how will the Bengals cope?’ It may be that dipping into the market is the only option at this point.

Bengals play-off hopes

The injury to Burrow is a major blow to any hopes the 2022 Super Bowl finalists may have had of reaching the playoffs.

The side from Cincinnati are currently 5-5 for the season and will need a win in the next clash against the Steelers if any slim playoff hopes and dreams are to be fulfilled.

The loss to Baltimore saw their percentage chance of a playoff place fall to 27% with the side only making it to postseason four times in the past decade.
