With the not-so-subtle dig at the Cowboys star, coming from the Bengals own young talent, we’re betting that things are going to be heated when the two teams meet this weekend.

Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase ‘fires shots’ at Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs

With both teams having lost their respective opening games, you can expect the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys to go for it when they meet on Sunday. While it’s true, that Dak Prescott’s absence - due to a thumb injury - will rob the game of some its grandeur, there’s no doubt that this interconference showdown is going to be ‘lit.’ If you’ve got doubts, just take a look at what Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chasehad to say about Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs. Two of the best in the respective positions, these two will be going head-to-head when the teams meet and it would appear that Chase has already got things started.

Of course, we should mention that these two played in the SEC together, so they have history which is now present in the NFL. When asked about their coming ‘date,’ Chase went from complimentary, to cordially harsh, to complimentary once again. That’s to say, shots were fired. “He’s an athlete. He’s got great ball skills in the air. He’s super fast,” Chase said. “He’s not too much on technique-sound, though. He’s a little hit or miss. He’s either all the way on or not on at all. But he’s definitely a great athlete.

Ja’Marr Chase vs Trevon Diggs is a perfect matchup

Nothing spices up a football game better than a bit of trash talk leading up to gameday. We’re banking on the idea that this game is going to be a good one. Yet, it should be said, Chase isn’t lying, despite his unreal athleticism, Diggs has in fact found himself lost in coverage a few times. On the other hand, here’s the thing: Trevon Diggs is no joke. Fresh off of a career year in which he registered 52 combined tackles, 21 passes defended and a league-leading 11 interceptions.

To be clear, those 11 were the most recorded in a single season since 1981, when rookie Everson Walls did the same. As for the man who started the party with his comments, Chase caught 10 passes for an impressive 129 yards and a touchdown in his team’s opener against Pittsburgh. With Bengals QB Joe Burrow saying the idea is to get him the ball even more, expect fireworks on Sunday.
