What happens now that charges have been dropped against the Bengals’ Joe Mixon?

Unfortunately for the Bengals’ running back, his name has been in the news more than once in recent months and most definitely for all the wrong kinds of reasons.

Cincinnati Bengals running back, Joe Mixon, is once again in the spotlight with law enforcement bringing charges against him in connection with an incident in which he allegedly point a gun at a woman.

Joe Mixon charged once again

According to reports, Joe Mixon has now been charged with aggravated menacing after he allegedly pointed a gun at a woman. To be clear, the same charge had been filed back in Janurary, but was later dropped. It is understood, that Cincinnati police refiled charges after discovering new evidence during their investigation. Law enforcement officials did not release any details about the new evidence that they found.

If you missed it, back in January Mixon was accused of pointing a firearm at a woman. As per reports at the time, Mixon allegedly pointed the gun at a woman and said, “You should be popped in the face, I should shoot you, the police [can’t] get me.” Subsequent to the incident, an arrest warrant was filed for Mixon, who was then charged with aggravated menacing. An aggravated menacing charge in Ohio is a first-degree misdemeanor. Surprisingly, charges were later dropped after the case was dismissed by the presiding judge. For the purpose of context, the altercation occurred the day before the Bengals played the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the playoffs, a game which they won.

Joe Mixon was recently involved in another gun incident

Though unrelated, Mixon was also involved just last month in a shooting incident that occurred at his home. At the time, police opened an investigation after a teenager was shot at Mixon’s home. The teenager was reportedly shooting nerf guns and ran onto Mixon’s property, resulting in an unidentified suspect - later understood to be his sister’s boyfriend - allegedly shooting a gun at the teenager from the backyard of Mixon’s house. The teen was struck in the foot and went to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Subsequent to the incident, it was reported that Mixon himself was carrying a firearm at the time which he legally owned and registered. As such he was not incriminated by police in anyway. At this time there has been no official word on whether or not Mixon will face disciplinary action from the NFL itself.
