Life is pretty good for San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.

The 27-year-old has been a key part of the 49ers’ transformation in recent years, bringing them back to the Super Bowl for a rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs. He joined the league in 2017 as the eighth overall pick for the Carolina Panthers and signed a record-breaking $64 million contract extension in 2020.

In addition to that deal he has a number of lucrative sponsorship agreements with big-name brands. He is a Nike athlete and also features in campaigns for Pepsi, Bose, Nerf and USAA.

All that has left the Colorado-born running back with a pretty enviable bank balance. CelebrityNetWorth lists Christian McCaffrey’s net worth at $30 million.

He has a number of personal awards under his belt and was recently named NFL Offensive Player of the Year for 2023. If he ends up on the winning side in Super Bowl LVIII he could see his sponsorship deals increase considerably and his bank balance rise with it.

McCaffrey woken by suspicious fire alarm

With that much money, you would be forgiven for thinking that McCaffrey is able to enjoy a quiet life. But professional sport brings enormous pressures, a sense of instability and a life in the spotlight.

With Super Bowl LVIII fast approaching, McCaffrey’s peace has been hit by another disruption; an early morning fire alarm at the team’s Las Vegas hotel.

The San Francisco 49ers were awoken at 6am on Thursday morning after an errant fire alarm sounded for 15 minutes before being dismissed. With the Super Bowl on the horizon, McCaffrey told reporters that he believes the unwarranted warning was an attempt to throw the 49ers off their game.

I think there’s no way it’s random,” McCaffrey said. “It’s part of it. It’s just more wood thrown on the fire.”

“I’m sure somebody did it,” fellow 49ers star Nick Bosa agreed. “It kind of reminded me of Philly when they had this construction going on outside. It was early in the morning and they were like demolishing a bridge right outside of our hotel. We haven’t had the best luck. But no excuses.”
