The upcoming Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will take place on Sunday, February 11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. It should be considered that the decision of which team is designated as the home and away team at the Super Bowl is unrelated to the game’s location.

The process for determining the home team for the Super Bowl is straightforward. The designation alternates each year between the AFC representative and the NFC representative. This year, the Kansas City Chiefs are the designated home team for the Super Bowl.

Does the home team have an advantage in the Super Bowl?

The home team at the Super Bowl has the privilege to choose which uniforms they will wear. This usually results in the visiting team wearing the opposite uniform, as NFL teams typically wear colored uniform tops at home and white ones when they play on the road. The NFL assigns the home team to the local NFL facility, while the away team is placed in the best college facility nearby.

However, one exception to this rule occurs when a Super Bowl city has two NFL teams, like New York City or Los Angeles.

Kansas City Chiefs training facility at the 2024 Super Bowl

As the home team for Super Bowl LVIII, the Chiefs will practice at the new state-of-the-art Raiders facility.

The San Francisco 49ers will prepare at UNLV

While the Fertitta Football Complex, located just north of Rebel Park, will offer the NFC champion players their recently built practice ground. The facility includes a gym, kitchen, locker rooms, medical facility, offices, and study areas.

Reports suggest that the training field of the 49ers is in poor condition. The team may have expressed their concerns about it. “There are seams on the practice field, and it feels like they’re practicing on a sponge surface,” was reported by the NFL insider, Adam Schefter.
