There is a large mural in the tunnel area that leads to the pitch at Ford Field that reads: Detroit vs. Everybody.

The slogan has become a motto for the cityfolk of Motor City, a metropolis that refuses to throw in the towel in the face of adversity caused by the automobile industry decline, a business that that was once the heartbeat of the Michigan capital.

The Detroit Lions have adopted this ‘no-one likes us, we don’t care attitude' and taken the spirit onto the football field. The team are looking to go one step further when they almost made it to their first ever Super Bowl final but slipped up in California with a narrow defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the Conference Championships.

The Lions face Washington Commanders tonight in the Divisional Round and are highly tipped to advance in a sell-out game.

Detroit vs Everybody, the origin

Back in 2012, fashion designer Tommey Walker founded the apparel brand using the phrase: Detroit vs. Everybody.

The Motown city native travelled across the country and realized he didn’t like the way Detroit was being represented which inspired the creation of the brand claiming that the phrase ‘just came to him’.

Detroit rapper Eminem also used the slogan for a track on his 2014 album Shady XV with the track featuring guests Royce Da 5′9″ and Big Sean.
