Update:

The Washington Commanders host the Dallas Cowboys in the first of three NFL games on Christmas Day this year, although you’d be forgiven for not being especially excited. Both teams are already eliminated from playoff contention, which threatens to turn the matchup into a true Christmas turkey.

Of course, Christmas being Christmas and football being football, plenty will undoubtedly tune in regardless on Netflix, which has essentially provided the national anthem singer for the game at Northwest Stadium.

Netflix influence: Who are SNZ4?

SZN4, comprising Aaliyah Rose, Cameron Goode, Donzell Taggart, and Katie Roeder, have been selected to belt out “The Star-Spangled Banner” in Landover. In case you aren’t aware, the four-piece formed in the first season of “Building the Band, a reality singing competition hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys that streamed on Netflix in July 2025.

The show’s key premise was that contestants were tasked with forming groups themselves, although they were not allowed to see their potential bandmates and could only listen to their voices.

From first song to finals

SZN4 were the first band to form in Week 3, performing Hozier’s “Too Sweet” as their debut song together. After six bands were formed, they advanced to the final three in Week 10. Their performances of “Human” by Rag’n’Bone Man and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” ultimately saw them finish as runners-up.

The judging panel included Kelly Rowland, once of Destiny’s Child, former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, and the late Liam Payne, who tragically died after filming had finished.

SZN4’s “honored” by NFL call

“We’re back on Netflix‼️” wrote SZN4 on their official Instagram account. “We’re so honored to be a part of the biggest event of the year. See you on Christmas Day 🏈🎄”

And the way the Cowboys and the Commanders have been going lately, they might just turn out to be the stars of the show.
