Why isn’t Zay Flowers playing for the Ravens against the Steelers in the Wild Card game?
The Pro Bowl WR was injured in the final game of the regular season against the Cleveland Browns.
A stroke of bad luck marred the end of the Ravens' regular season. Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers hobbled out of the Week 18 win over the Cleveland Browns, apparently after taking a blow to his right knee from Mohamoud Diabate.
Flowers underwent an MRI scan and while the results have not been revealed, coach John Harbaugh stressed that the injury is not season-ending, which gives a glimmer of hope that the player could be back if the team advances to the divisional round.
Flowers' season is not over
Flowers did not participate in any of the team’s sessions last week and is ruled out of the Steelers game, as Harbaugh confirmed: "Zay Flowers is not going to be able to make it to the game this week. So he’ll get started again next week and we’ll move forward with the guys we have and we’re excited about the guys we have, which is everybody else.”
During 17 appearances this season, Flowers caught 74 passes for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns. With Flowers ruled out, Harbaugh will turn to former first-round pick Rashod Bateman, who ended the regular season with 45 catches for 756 yards and nine touchdowns.
Baltimore have veteran WR Deonte Harty listed as questionable for the Steelers' game. He returned to practice this week for the first time since suffering a knee injury in October.
