Will Cedric Tillman play for the Browns against the Steelers? NFL injury update
The wide receiver sat out Monday’s defeat to the Broncos and has yet to return to practice. Here’s what we know.
The Browns (3-9) take on the Steelers (9-3) for the second time in a fortnight with have the chance of recording a rare sweep over their opponents - something which last happened in 1988.
Cleveland battled through heavy snow to beat Pittsburgh 19-24 at Huntington Bank Field to log just their second win in 10 outings. Nick Chubb ran for a two-yard touchdown with less than a minute left of the clock to hand Kevin Stefanski’s team a much-needed win over their divisional rivals.
Whether the Browns will be able to repeat the feat at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday remains to be seen. Four players were absent from Thursday’s practice and a handful of others were limited.
Maurice Hurst (ankle), Sam Kamara (concussion) and Jedrick Wills (knee) were unable to take part in the sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Wide receiver Cedric Tillman also missed out.
How did Cedric Tillman get injured?
Tillman collided with linebacker Patrick Queen in the third quarter of the Week 12 game against the Steelers. He was taken to the blue tent where it was decided that he should sit out the remainder of the game as a precaution.
Stefanski explained afterwards that Tillman was suffering from concussion and therefore had to enter the league’s five-step protocol before he could be cleared to return.
The Browns coach had been confident that Tillman would receive clearance in time to play against the Steelers, although that hasn’t ultimately been the case, which means he will miss a second consecutive game, joining Hurst, Kamara and Wilis on the sidelines.

The NFL Week 14 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns will be played on Sunday, December 8 2024 at Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh with kick off at 1 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT.
