Will Tyreek Hill get a new contract with the Miami Dolphins?

The Miami Dolphins’ pass catcher is on the hunt for a new contract, and given the market, it wouldn’t hurt for the franchise to address that ASAP.

Update:

By now it should be clear that the wide receiver market in the NFL is active. Indeed, both Amon-Ra St. Brown and A.J. Brown have secured massive contracts, surpassing Miami’s star who is on $30 million a year. That said, the Dolphins star has been on the lookout for a new deal for a while, and he just might get it.

Tyreek Hill wants a new deal and there’s a reason why

It’s no secret that Tyreek Hill has been looking for a new contract and when considering his age and stage - Hill will turn 30 in March - it’s not hard to see why. This past season, the Miami Dolphins pass catcher led the NFL in both receiving yards (1,799) and receiving touchdowns (13). This brings us to his contract situation and the reason for his concern. At present, the $30 million per year that he’s set to earn, doesn’t quite add up. According to reports, the final year compensation on Hill’s deal is a staggering $45 million. When one considers the uncertainty surrounding whether he sees that contract to its end, as well as his cap hit of $56.3 million in 2026, it paints a different picture.

This is where we come to context. That’s to say Hill’s push for a new contract comes on the back of the Eagles’ Brown who signed a three-year extension worth $96 million, tying him to the team for the next six seasons. In that sense, Hill who has been one of the best in the league in his two seasons with the Dolphins, finishing in the top two in receiving yards, has good reasons to ask for more. We are, after all, talking about the player who has had the most receptions in excess of 25 yards over the last two campaigns.

Ultimately, the Dolphins are in a moment of movement. As you would have seen in our previous report, fellow wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was just extended to the tune of $84.75 million. There’s also the issue of the quarterback. With that, it would be reasonable to believe that Hill’s situation will be taken care of soon enough. With the likes of Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and Ja’Marr Chase looking for the same, it wouldn’t be a bad idea.
