Olympics athlete celebrates gold with ode to Cristiano Ronaldo
The Portuguese superstar inspired millions around the world with his skills and goalscoring records, and his influence appeared in the Paris Games.
Soccer fans all over the globe are more than familiar with the exploits of Cristiano Ronaldo. A career highlighted by his spells at LaLiga and Premier League giants Real Madrid and Manchester United, respectively, the Portugal goal machine was also known for his moniker, CR7, and his celebration every time he made a goalkeeper sad.
Ronaldo celebration in Paris walking
That celebration, which tends to come with a very particular noise, made an appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on Thursday morning, but the player himself, now 39 and starring for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, was nowhere to be seen.
“Siiiiiiuuuuuuuu,” came the scream from Daniel Pintado after crossing the finish line of the 20km men’s walking event in Paris. And despite his exertions to beat Brazil’s Caio Bonfim, who took silver, and Spain’s Alvaro Martin, bronze, he still had enough energy for the customary jump and arms out landing. Cristiano, a real influencer.
