The Texas Children’s Houston Open is taking place at Memorial Park Golf Course this week. The tournament has attracted some of the world’s best golfers, including Tony Finau, who is looking to defend his title, and this year’s round 2 just showed how much he is capable of doing it. Finau has been somewhat inconsistent in 2024, but his recent form suggests he is still a force to be reckoned with. He has achieved a T6 and three top-20s in his last six starts, which is an impressive record. Additionally, Finau holds the course record of 62 from the second round in 2022.

During the second Texas Children’s Houston Open, Finau played a game of exceptional golf by firing another second-round 8-under 62, tying the tournament record. This outstanding performance helped him take the 36-hole lead at Memorial Park Golf Course, with a two-shot lead over Argentinian Alejandro Tosti, who made a birdie putt on his final hole, reaching 7 under. With such an impressive lead, Finau is certainly a strong contender to win the tournament again this year.

Another golfer to watch out for at this year’s Texas Children’s Houston Open is FedExCup and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Scheffler returned to action two weeks ago after his dramatic win at THE PLAYERS Championship, and he has been in outstanding form this season. Scheffler has won two events in a row on the PGA TOUR, the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard before his triumph at TPC Sawgrass. He has not finished outside the top 20 in any event this season. Currently holding the T4 spot with 5 under after two rounds of golf in Houston, Scheffler is undoubtedly a strong contender to catch Finau at T1 and win the tournament.
