Patrick Fishburn and Denny McCarthy top a tightly-packed leaderboard after two rounds at Waialae County Club in Hawaii.
American duo Patrick Fishburn and Denny McCarthy lead the way at the top of a tightly-packed leaderboard after the opening two rounds of the 2025 Sony Open at Waialae County Club in Hawaii.
McCarthy, who was the joint leader after round one following an opening six-under par 64, fired a 66 to get to -10 at the end of play on Friday. The 31-year-old Marylander was joined on that number by Fishburn, who has two 65s to his name so far.
There are, however, 15 players within three shots of the lead, including two-time major winner Zach Johnson (-8), European Ryder Cup star Sepp Straka (-8), South Korean prodigy Tom Kim (-7) and 2023 Open champion Brian Harman (-7).
Sahith Theegala (-6), US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley (-5) and Hideki Matsuyama (-4) are among the other fancied stars a little further back who could still claw their way to the top of the standings.
