Update:
Application window open for SIGA women global mentorship programme

The application window for the 2023/24 edition of the SIGA Global Mentorship Programme for Young Aspiring Female Leaders in Sport is now open. The fifth cycle of the programme is a crucial part of the SIGA Global Agenda on Female Empowerment and Leadership, aimed at promoting future leaders in sport and fostering greater gender equity in the boardroom, in accordance with the SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance.

Women aged 24 or over are eligible to apply for the Mentorship Programme until 30 June 2023. The eight-month Programme commences in September 2023, and involves mentees pairing with one of the #SIGAWomen Global Mentors supported by interactive Group Digital Workshops on a range of topics related to Sport Integrity and Gender Equity, such as Athlete Transitioning Careers, Goal Setting, Good Governance, Sexual Harassment & Discrimination and Mental Health.

Global mentors from the previous cycle included leaders from the Barbados National Olympic Committee, George Washington University, FIBA, FIFA, Mastercard, M&T Bank and Octagon, amongst other organisations from around the world.  During the 2022/2023 programme, fifty mentees from thirty-two countries from organisations including The FA, World Rugby and the ITIA, to name but a few, received mentorship as part of this growing global community of like-minded women.

Commenting on the opening of the application process, Katie Simmonds, SIGA’s Global COO and Director of #SIGAWomen Programme, said:

Each year I am overwhelmed by the quality of the applications we receive from aspiring female leaders in the sports industry and am impressed by the number of senior female leaders that commit as global mentors to the programme.  This year SIGA is doubling its reach and aiming to deliver mentorship to 100 global mentees worldwide. I believe that we can achieve gender equity in the boardroom as I have witnessed the positive impact SIGAWomen has had on the lives of both the mentors and mentees. If you want to be part of the cultural change and usher long-lasting diversity and inclusion in the sports industry, apply now!”
