Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will be seeking the 45th race win of his Formula One career in Spa on Sunday, after the Dutch driver secured victory number 44 at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

“Hopefully, I don’t stay on 44. That would be terrible,” Verstappen said after winning at the Hungaroring last weekend.

Verstappen is on a run of seven wins in a row, but starts down in sixth on the grid in Belgium. Although he took pole in qualifying on Friday, he was given a five-place penalty after fitting a fifth gearbox of the season.

However, it’s worth remembering that Verstappen won at Spa from 14th on the grid last year.

Viewers in the United States will be able to watch the Belgian Grand Prix on the streaming platform ESPN+.

The F1 record for consecutive race wins is nine on the trot, with Sebastian Vettel doing that in 2013 with Red Bull on his way to a fourth title.

Red Bull have now won a record 12 in a row - 11 this season and last year’s finale in Abu Dhabi - and brought upgrades to Hungary, where Verstappen won with the sport’s biggest margin since 2021.

“Hopefully we can keep this momentum going for a long time,” Verstappen said after a win that was his 24th since the start of last season.

What time does the Belgian Grand Prix start?

The Belgian Grand Prix, the 12th race in the 2023 Formula One World Championship, will be held on Sunday 30 July 2023 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Stavelot, Belgium. It gets underway at 9am ET/6am PT.
