The LIV golfer struggled on Thursday shooting 7-over par, but has battled to back to make the cut at Royal Portrush.

DeChambeau battles back on Friday after shooting 7-over par on day 1

The golf influencer is keeping us on our toes. After anouncing he was done at Royal Portrush, DeChambeau is currently 6-under par on Friday, putting him at 1-over for the tournament and sitting on the cut line.
In his previous seven Open Championships he has missed three cuts and finished T60, T51, T33 and in 2022 at St. Andrews ended up at T8 in his best performance.

As Alan Shipnuck mentions in the tweet below, maybe it is just a business decision for DeChambeau. What’s the point of changing his game or adapting his swing for one links tournament a year?
In the wake of Bryson's woebegone 78, thinking of what Adam Scott told me at last year's Open: "His style of play is super optimized for every week of the year except for this one. So as a business decision, he's making the right choice. But what makes this tournament so cool is…

Robert MacIntyre made a similar comment earlier in the week. Without naming names, he mentioned that many American golfers don’t play the game that is required for links golf because they don’t have to.
The purist method of the game is links golf, according to Robert MacIntyre.

That is very true and he has a point. That said, to be one of golf’s greatest, it’s necessary to win on different courses in different playing conditions and be able to adapt your game. Some names come to mind: Rory McIlroy himself, who just won the career grand slam at Augusta National this year. Tom Watson, the legendary American golfer, who won the Open Championship five times. Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, the list goes on.
So, while we can’t blame DeChambeau for not changing his style of play, we can have a laugh with some of the funny memes and jokes on social meda:
