The iconic 1992 truck has a long history. Here’s everything you need to know about the ‘Krew Kut’ built by Gas Monkey Garage.
“Jake Paul knows how to make an entrance.”
Those were the words of commentator Mauro Ranallo when the YouTuber-turned-boxer entered on an customized Chevy Dually for his Friday night fight against Mike Tyson.
The long-awaited clash between Paul and Tyson was broadcast live on Netflix, drawing tens of millions of viewers and earning Paul a reported $40 million. He made a characteristically theatrical entrance, riding alongside brother Logan Paul in a customized 1992 Chevrolet C3500 that has come to be known as the ‘Krew Kut’ in motoring circles.
As Ranallo explained: “Built by Gas Monkey Garage, full hydraulic low-ride with 12 inches of suspension drop. Double metal flaked paint with airbrush flames, Wet Sounds audio system. It’s driven by Heavy D Sparks of Diesel Brothers.”
What is the price of the Krew Kut truck used by Jake Paul?
The unique Chevy pickup has been a staple of the automobile show circuit in the US after rising to fame in the 1990s as a magazine truck. Built by Sean Mahaney of MIC it was renovated by Gas Monkey Garage in 2018 and appears to have been leant to Jake Paul for the fight.
Incredibly, Motor Trend reports that the iconic car was gathering dust in a storage container when Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage was offer it. An episode of his TV show ‘Fast N’ Loud' how he was able to buy the truck for just $7,500, although extensive work was needed to restore it to its former glory.
In the episode, Rawlings admits that he didn’t even know what it was initially: “I got a call about this ‘92 Chevy C3500 known as the ’Krew Kut', good thing the Monkeys knew what it was because I sure as hell thought it was just a dusty, dirty old truck.”
“Turns out it’s this legendary, long-lost magazine truck from the 1990s so we got it back to the garage and I gave the Monkeys three weeks to bring it back to life.
Given it’s unique build and fascinating back-story, it’s impossible to put a price tag on the Krew Kut. What is certain, however, is that the value has soared after being a part of one of the most-watched fights in boxing history.
