As days go by and summer gets into the second half of July, the mega bout between Terence Crawford (39-0) and Errol Spence Jr. (28-0) is getting closer.

Fans have been waiting for this fight for years, being one of the most anticipated clashes in recent boxing history, and now, if nothing unexpected happens, both welterweight champions will collide on July 29.

What makes this fight so special is that both men are undefeated and the winner will be considered the kingpin of the division and probably among the best fighters of all time in the 140–147 lb category.

Another proof of the magnitude of this fight is the fact that the winner will likely be the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer. Although it’s not a title, it’s one of the best recognitions in the sport, as all fighters from all the different weight classes are taken into consideration in these rankings.

Freddie Roach predicts the winner

With less than two weeks to go, many fans and experts have made their predictions in one of the most difficult fights to break down.

One of the most prestigious voices in boxing, trainer Freddie Roach, was recently asked about the fight between Bud and The Truth and he explained who’s the favorite to end up winning the showdown.

I have Crawford. He goes out there with his game plan; he might turn southpaw in the first or second round. But he carries through. I like him a lot, I think he’s one of the best fighters in the world today”, he said to Fight Hype.

“I think he’s more thoughtful; he sets up the counterpunch really well. His opponent is obviously there and aggressive, but Spence has had a rough life over the past year or so”, he added.

Spence suffered a car smash he walked away from in October of 2019. Despite that incident, he came back into the ring with a great performance to beat Danny Garcia. After that, he underwent retinal surgery in 2021, so he wasn’t able to face Manny Pacquiao.

In 2022, the WBA/WBC/IBF welterweight champion found himself in a two-vehicle accident in Dallas. He escaped unscathed, although he complained of a leg injury during an Instagram Live video sharing the immediate aftermath with his followers.
