From the ring to Hollywood- Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is preparing to debut on the big screen. It has been confirmed that he will appear in ‘Creed III , the film starring and directed by Michael B. Jordan, who announced that the Mexican boxer is joining the cast of the film.

“Directing the legend himself @Canelo in Creed III. I can’t wait for the world to see it on March 3,” Jordan wrote in an Instagram story alongside a series of photos of him and Alvarez on set. It is not yet clear what role Canelo will take on in the film.

“A star inside and outside the ring… Welcome to the family. Good luck this weekend!”, added the actor, referring to Alvarez’s fight on Sept. 17 against Gennady Golovkin, in the third and last fight of the renowned trilogy between the two boxers.

Michael B. Jordan on ‘Canelo’ Álvarez: ‘He’s very dangerous’

In an interview late last year by The Hollywood Reporter, Michael B. Jordan had already talked about Saúl Álvarez, after the actor watched the fight between Canelo and Caleb Plant in November as part of his research for the next part of the ‘Creed’ saga.

“Canelo fights orthodox, he fights right-handed, but he’s southpaw, which means his main hand is his dominant hand, and he’s very dangerous,” Jordan said.

“[The main hand] is the setup hand for your power punch, but if your power shot is your setup hand, then people expect you to drop the bomb here, but it really comes from the other hand. So the setup comes in full force,” added the actor.

Meanwhile, after four years of waiting, Canelo Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin will meet for the third time in the ring on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
