How much prize money did Jhonattan Vegas win at the 2024 3M Open?

The tournament began with no Schauffele, Scheffler nor McIlroy, but there was still plenty of interest around with a sizeable prize pot on offer.

The 2024 3M Open got underway on Thursday July 25 and culminated in a win for Jhonattan Vegas as Sunday July 28 drew to a close, seeing him take home the 1st prize of $1.494 million. Coming into the final day at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, near Minneapolis, it was Vegas who led the way, with Matt Kuchar and Maverick McNealy one and two shots back, respectively.

It’s fair to say that the previous week’s 2024 Open Championship, the final major of the year, played its part in lightening the field of some of the game’s top stars, but there was a purse of over $8 million still up for grabs. The winner at Scotland’s challenging Royal Troon course, Xander Schauffele, along with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and others, chose to skip the 3M Open to get some rest before the FedEx Cup playoffs, which get underway with the FedEx St. Jude Championship on August 18.

Those that did make it to the Twin Cities included The Open joint runner-up Billy Horschel and also fourth placed Thriston Lawrence. Recently appointed Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley was another name in the line-up along with the likes of Tony Finau, Sahith Theegala and Akshay Bhatia.

What was the 2024 3M Open purse and prize breakdown?

While $8 million may sound like a lot to many people, it’s some way off the more lucrative events on the PGA tour. In fact, if we exclude the additional events – those played in the same week as major tournaments – there are only three ‘regular’ events on this year’s schedule which have a smaller prize purse. That said, it’s hardly pocket change.

The exact purse sat at $8.3 million, which was then shared out among the field depending on final position. Below is the full split.
