Update:

John Cena stood tall at WrestleMania 41, hoisting a record-setting 17th WWE world championship – then turned his back on the press entirely.

In front of more than 60,000 fans at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Cena defeated Cody Rhodes in what was billed as his final WrestleMania appearance. The match wasn’t a classic, but it had everything WWE thrives on: spectacle, interference, and a finish that left fans divided.

With the referee down, global music star Travis Scott stormed in, carrying a championship belt. He handed it to Cena, who then hit Rhodes and claimed the win. That moment pushed Cena one title ahead of Ric Flair, breaking a long-standing record. But it also raised questions – ones Cena refused to entertain.

Cena ready to “ruin wrestling”

At the post-show press conference, Cena declined to answer a single question, dismissing the media’s interest as “clickbait.” No reflection, no celebration, no explanation. Watch how he handled it.

As you’ll have noticed in the end, this was a planned approach, ending with: “I’m beginning to sense a pattern here, that you guys are just looking for headlines. So, I’ll give you one.

“Tune in to Monday Night Raw, to see how I ruin wrestling.”

The win came just weeks after Cena’s Elimination Chamber victory, which earned him the WrestleMania title shot. He’d already announced 2025 would be his final year as an active wrestler, making this match likely his last on WWE’s biggest stage. That context only heightened the drama – and the controversy.

Was this the ending Cena deserved?

WWE’s booking made sure the moment was memorable, if not clean. Rhodes, who had held the title for over a year, went down not to wrestling skill, but to a belt shot from a celebrity. Some fans saw it as a fitting final act for a WWE icon. Others saw it as a stunt.

Still, Cena now holds 17 world championships – the most ever. That fact will go in the record books, no matter how it was won. But Cena’s moment, and his silence, are what linger.

He didn’t give the soundbites. He gave a moment. And, for better or worse, he wrote his final chapter on his own terms..and with a few words still to come.
