Mike Trout, an American professional baseball center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels, a ten-time MLB All-Star, three-time American League Most Valuable Player (2014,2016 and 2019), and a nine-time winner of the Silver Slugger Award, is uniting with the 15-time golf major winner Tiger Woods to build a state-of-the-art golf course in his New Jersey hometown of Millville.

Trout’s passion for the game is not new. He’s said in multiple interviews that golf is his second-favorite sport, and he tries to play every day in the offseason. Famous for his big baseball swing, he also has recorded phenomenal golf hits with ball exit speeds around 184 mph, more than the average data produced by the PGA. The 240-pound professional athlete stature is a mitigating circumstance, but the baseball background might be even more involved behind his incredible golfing numbers.

TGR Design

The accountable for the construction Tiger Woods-led TGR Design team comprises seasoned professionals with global knowledge in all aspects of golf course design. Their courses are crafted thoughtfully and deliberately to create fun yet challenging tests of golf. Each of their projects dually emphasizes playability and strategy to create memorable courses that are enjoyable for players of all levels.

In a joint statement on Monday, the pair Mike Trout and Tiger Woods announced the construction of a new private golf club in southern New Jersey, just 7 miles from Trout’s family house in Millville, named Trout National-The Reserve. The club will include a practice range, short-game area, clubhouse, lodging, and wedding chapel.

Trout National-The Reserve

TGR Design promised to bring a unique championship golf course experience to southern New Jersey with its envisioned design. Set among gently rolling hills, and the course will seamlessly weave between two distinct settings: a former quarry and rambling farmland.

Trout National – The Reserve will be highly strategic as sprawling fairways offer multiple routes from tee to green. Undulating green complexes with low-cut surrounds will further emphasize the challenging yet fun-focused design, where risk-reward opportunities will be provided throughout the round to complete an ideal match-play environment. The distinctive nature of the course will promote creative shot-making and optionality, and qualities will be underscored with a striking par three-match hole inspired by the club co-founder and MLB All-Star, Mike Trout, featuring multiple tee and green options.

In his part of the news release, Trout said: “I love south Jersey, and I love golf, so creating Trout National-The Reserve is a dream come true. And then to add to that, we’ll have a golf course designed by Tiger? It’s just incredible to think that this project has grown to where we’re going to be working with someone many consider the greatest and most influential golfer of all time.

Tiger Woods added: “It’s a great site for golf, and our team’s looking forward to creating a special course for Mike, Jessica, John, and Lorie (Mike Trout’s wife and local businesspeople involved in the project).”

The baseball star Mike Trout will join the company of NBA team owner Michael Jordan, actor Clint Eastwood, NFL analyst Ronald Jaworski and country music legend Willie Nelson as a celebrity to own his golf course.
