Nick Kyrgios reveals his most annoying tennis player: “I don’t think I’ve ever met someone so arrogant”

Update:

Nick Kyrgios has never been shy about naming names and causing some friction. And his latest swipe at a fellow ex-professional came during a wide-ranging appearance on the Nothing Major Show, when he was asked about the most annoying player on tour.

Who is the most annoying tennis player, for Kyrgios?

He hardly needed pressed by the guys on the show – Sam Querrey, John Isner, Jack Sock and Steve Johnson – to name someone from the last decade who rubbed him up the wrong way. It was a former top-10 regular and Davis Cup winner with Spain.

“I honestly couldn’t stand Fernando Verdasco,” Kyrgios said, before launching, uninvited, into an anecdote that set the tone. He recalled seeing the Spaniard practicing topless in the rain and being baffled by it. “It’s not even sunny. Put your shirt back on,” he mimicked of his thoughts that day.

But that was just a moment. He went further.

“I don’t think I’ve ever met someone so arrogant, just walking through the hallways.” This provoked some giggles but some push back too with an insistence that Verdasco seemed “so cool” off court.

Kyrgios shared plenty more insights and opinions – including the frustrations of playing Rafa Nadal – and you can watch and listen to it in the video above.

It was a pretty vintage appearance from the former Aussie star, with his usual unfiltered humor. Diplomacy, I’d suggest, is not his forte.
