The Oregon World Athletics Championships 2022 is about to get underway for the first time in the United States. Here’s how to watch the competition.
The World Athletics Championships will be held for the very first time in the United States, and the competition is taking place in Eugene, Oregon. The American team is expected to bring in a haul of medals, but the Jamaican contingent is a powerhouse that they have to contend with.
Jamaica will be bringing in four-time and reigning world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah and Olympic bronze medalist, Shericka Jackson.
151-strong Team USA
Team USA is sending a contingent of 151 athletes with high expectations of dominating the medals table as they did in Doha in 2019. Among the American athletes expected to bring home the gold are Olympic champions Sydney McLaughlin and Dalilah Mhammad who will both be competing in the 400m hurdles.
Olympic champion Ryan Crouser and world champion Joe Kovacs will be aiming for podium finishes in the men’s shot put.
Track superstar Allyson Felix will be participating in the World Athletics Championships for the last time before she retires, in the mixed 4x400m pool.
