SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport back in New York in March 2024

The Summit brings together female leaders and male allies from all sides of the global sports industry.

Update:
SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport

SIGA, the Sport Integrity Global Alliance, announced today, Tuesday, that their annual Summit on Female Leadership in Sport will be held in 2024 on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, New York, on 6 March.

The Summit brings together female leaders and male allies from all sides of the global sports industry and is designed to unlock the power of networking. The one-day high-level initiative is focused on learning, connecting, and mobilizing the sports community to commit to gender equity both on and off the field of play.

SIGA is the world’s leading organisation for Sport Integrity and works with sport, governments, academia, international organisations, sponsors, business, rights holders, NGOs and professional services companies. This newspaper is a proud media partner of SIGA.

Importance of gender equality

Gender equality is a foundational pillar SIGA’s reform agenda being a key component of good governance in Sport. The organisation is committed to helping close the gender gap in sports leadership positions by providing mentorship, training, and networking opportunities to create greater pathways for female leaders across the industry.

The Summit on Female Leadership in Sport is part of the SIGA Women Programme, which includes a Global Mentorship Programme and their Women on Wednesdays show.

The Summit on Female Leadership in Sport is a cornerstone event for leaders committed to driving change and supporting women’s involvement in Sport at all levels.

As in previous editions, the Summit will use a hybrid format, with a digital live-streaming option for those who do not have an in-person pass. Registration is now open, with a discounted price of $295 available for those who book before 15 December 2023. The full price delegate pass is $350.

Digital passes will be available with a donation option, with all donations being invested in the SIGAWomen Programme.

The need to make a change on gender equality

Katie Simmonds, SIGA Global COO and Managing Director of the SIGA Women Programme, said: “Currently there are less than 30 percent of women represented in the decision-making organs of the international federations. To move the needle, achieve gender equity, and really have good governance in Sport, we need to push for change.

“SIGAWomen does this through: (1) delivering mentorship to aspiring female leaders; (2) holding sports organizations accountable to diversity and inclusion criteria enshrined in the SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport via our independent rating and verification tool, SIRVS; and (3) providing a platform for female leaders and male allies to amplify their real-life stories to inspire and instigate  systemic cultural change. Join our global movement, register now for the Summit, and play your part in shaping a more equitable future.”
