Jannik Sinner faces a serious dilemma ahead of the French Open. He wants to win his second Grand Slam tournament title and become the world No. 1, but the price he could pay for it could be too high.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sinner, who retired in Madrid and didn’t play in the Italian Open in Rome due to his hip issues, could be closer to withdrawing from Roland Garros than competing in the French capital.
Sinner could be the No. 1 without playing in Paris
The Italian newspaper claims that the doctors have recommended Sinner some more rest so that the pain in his hip doesn’t become chronic. That’s why the Italian star has been present at the Juventus medical center in Turin, to keep following his rehab plan.
Sinner and his team are expected to decide this week whether he will play at the French Open, although everything indicates that he will not be in Paris. In that case, the Italian could also become the ATP No. 1 once the event concludes if Novak Djokovic doesn’t make it to the tournament’s final.
