Team USA reasserted their dominance at the FIBA Women’s World Cup after winning the gold medal for the fourth consecutive time, beating China 83-61 in the championship game.

The 22-point difference is the widest in a final in this competition, overtaking the previous record of 20 points that had also been set by the United States.

Star forward A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces was recognized as the World Cup’s Most Valuable Player, adding to the WNBA MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards that she already received this season.

Two other Aces players turned in fine performances during the final game, with guard Kelsey Plum contributing 17 points and Chelsea Gray delivering a Player of the Game award-winning showing of 10 points, eight assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

Team USA has stretched its winning streak to 30 consecutive games at the FIBA World Cup, with its last loss taking place at the 2006 semifinals. They also have the distinction of tallying the most championships, with 11 gold medals.
