Carlos Alcaraz, who faces Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2025, has become one of the most recognisable faces in the world of sport in recent years, although his new look in Melbourne has caused many to do a double take.

The Spaniard went for a fresh trim before the start of the first Grand Slam of the year, with his drastic new hairstyle not going unnoticed by fans across the globe, especially on social media. Not that Alcaraz hasn’t shaved all his hair off before, although we haven’t seen the youngster go so short for some time.

Alcaraz to “try something new” in 2025

“I discussed it with my barber, I got the haircut and in three days, it’s gone (grown back). I have to go more often and I don’t do that,” Alcaraz explained.

“It’s a new year, I knew I was going to be here in Australia, heat, 40 degrees, it’s summer here. I thought that I needed something new and I think I did it. I already did this haircut a few years ago. I just like it. Probably this year it’s going to be a new Carlitos in style! Probably I’m going to try something new this year.

Alcaraz, still only 21, is already chasing his fifth Grand Slam, but has never gone beyond the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. His previous victories have come at the US Open (2022), Wimbledon (2023, 2024) and Roland-Garros.
