The Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk rematch date and venue are already set

‘The Gipsy King’ and the Ukrainian have activated their contract’s rematch clause and will meet again in the ring this year.

Update:
‘The Gipsy King’ and the Ukrainian have activated their contract’s rematch clause and will meet again in the ring this year.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will meet inside the ring again. The Brit activated the rematch clause in his contract, so he will have a shot at recovering the heavyweight crown from the 2012 Olympic Games gold medalist.

In one of the most exciting, action-packed fights this year, Usyk became the undisputed champion via split decision. The Cat is the first heavyweight boxer who unified the four belts in the division after a brilliant Round 9, where he almost ended the clash with vicious punches.

While rumors had it that Fury could prefer to avoid the risk of a rematch with Usyk to focus on his idea of fighting Anthony Joshua, the 35-year-old star didn’t hesitate to welcome another fight with the undefeated Ukrainian.

Before the rematch agreement, Usyk’s staff revealed that they would respect their deal and would be happy to fight Fury again if the Manchester native was up for the challenge.

Fury vs Usyk 2: December 21, in Saudi Arabia

It has only taken a few days after the fight to set a new date for a rematch. Both men will meet again on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s chair of the General Entertainment Authority Turki Alalshikh has revealed.

Alalshikh announced the news on his social media. “The rematch... is now scheduled on the 21 of December 2024 during Riyadh Season. The world will watch another historical fight again. Our commitment to boxing fans continues. We hope you enjoy it.”

Fury and Usyl will have the time to fully recover from their first war and prepare for their next clash. According to Fury’s co-promoter, Frank Warren, the Brit will be able to make the adjustments to come out on top in the rematch.

“I think he can, he believes he can,” said Warren. “(...) It was a fight of two halves, Tyson knows what he has to do and I’m sure Usyk does. Both of those guys were in an absolute war that has taken a lot out of both of them”, he added.

The rematch seemed the most obvious movement for both fighters, especially for Tyson Fury, who will have another big payday and the opportunity to fight for all the marbles.
