Wimbledon always brings out the stars from the sports, fashion and entertainment world, but it may not get more star studded than this sporty selfie.
The sports world is full of beautiful people. That should come as no surprise considering athletes are generally the most in shape, fit people and generally have some fantastic genetics.
Becks and Sharapova still got it
There are beautiful people and then there are icons, and two of the most iconic athletes of this century posed for a selfie at the All England Club as Wimbledon commenced a few days ago. The athlete in the Instagram post need no introduction, but just in case you’ve woken up from a two decade long coma here you: David Beckham and Maria Sharapova.
Not only were the two at the top of their respective sports for a long time, but they widely considered the best looking athletes not just in tennis and soccer, but in all sports. Sharapova is a former Wimbledon Champion, and Beckham is a tennis fanatic who rarely misses a chance to sit in the luxury seats at Centre Court.
Sharapova broke on to the tennis scene as a 17 year old when she beat then two time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams. That kicked off a long and successful career that saw here rise to the No. 1 player in the word, win 36 WTA Tour singles events and won the career slam, winning all four Gland Slams during her career.
Wimbledon awaits the stars
She did all this while exhibiting a grace, elegance and beauty that few others had or have. Sharapova parlayed that with her brilliant tennis career by featuring in the Sport Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and for a long time she was the face of multiple luxury fashion brands.
And then of course there is David Beckham who won just about everything there is to win in the soccer world in his time playing with Manchester United, Real Madrid, the LA Galaxy, AC Milan and PSG. For as successful as he was on the pitch his persona off the pitch was larger than life.
Even before he married his wife Victoria, he was one of the guys all the ladies wanted to be with and all the guys wanted to be. The two married and blended the worlds of sports, entertainment, fashion and music. Beckham is still blanketed on the facades of buildings across the world as the face of Calvin Klein, BOSS and about a million other brand.
