Update:

Wayne Gretzky, often labelled as the greatest to ever put on a pair of skates, is keeping his seat at the broadcast desk for at least a few more seasons. He’s just inked a new multi-year deal with TNT to continue as a studio analyst for their NHL coverage.

Gretzky first joined TNT’s hockey team during the 2021–22 season, departing his executive role with the Edmonton Oilers to do so. Though the financial terms have not been publicly disclosed, reports suggest his earlier contracts approached around $3 million annually.

Gretzky’s renewed contract arrives alongside a similar extension for Henrik Lundqvist, who remains a central figure on the studio panel. “I look forward to hanging out with the crew,” Lundqvist said after signing his new deal. “It’s fun to go to Atlanta, when it’s TNT, to hang out with the boys and just have fun. We talk about the game, we break down things and what we see and hear, but we’ll talk about other things going on.”

Who is on the NHL broadcast team in 2025?

Wayne Gretzky and Henrik Lundqvist are two hockey greats: often called “The Great One,” the former remains the NHL’s all-time scoring leader, with an assist total that surpasses the career points of any other player. Meanwhile, Lundqvist spent 15 seasons as the backbone of the New York Rangers, was enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023.

Together they join Paul Bissonnette, Anson Carter, and host Liam McHugh, all of whom are expected to carry forward their roles without major changes.

On the ice broadcast side, Kenny Albert continues as TNT’s lead play-by-play commentator, a role he has held for a few years.
