Update:
‘Canelo’ Álvarez makes his return to the ring after his hand injury in a fight against John Ryder where there will be a lot at stake for both fighters.

The countdown has begun and Mexican and boxing fans are waiting to see Saúl Álvarez’s return to the ring.

Canelo, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters, will return to action on Saturday against the dangerous John Ryder in a fight that will take place in his native Guadalajara, in front of more than 45,000 attendants at the Akron Stadium.

It will be Álvarez’s first fight on Mexican soil in 11 years since he defeated Kermit Cintron via TKO in the fifth round to retain his WBC light middleweight title.

Meanwhile, The Gorilla will be facing the biggest fight of his career, with very little to lose, as he’s a massive underdog and the majority of the boxing community expects Canelo to get the job done easily.

Canelo vs Ryder: the winner takes it all

Although the Canelo vs Ryder fight hasn’t had the impact of the Mexican’s previous fights against Gennady Golovkin or Dmitry Bivol, there will be a lot at stake on Saturday.

The undisputed super middleweight champion will put all his four belts on the line (WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF).

The winner of the fight will also take The Ring’s belt, a championship belt in a given weight class -in this case, the super middleweight division- where The Ring champion holds a lineal reign to the throne, the man who beat the man.

Taking that into consideration, the Mexican star will be aware that a mistake not only could cost him a fight, but losing his supremacy in that category, while for Ryder, winning all the belts will certainly mean a life-changing success.
