What is the cut line at the 2025 John Deere Classic?
In the absences of Scheffler and McIlroy, Day, Homa and Fowler are among the biggest names in the field at TPC Deere Run in Illinois.

With the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland just two weeks away, some of the golfing world’s top stars, including Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, have opted to recharge their batteries rather than take part in this week’s PGA Tour event - the 2025 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Illinois.
World no. 17 Ben Griffin is the highest-ranked player taking part, with Jason Day, Max Homa and Rickie Fowler among the other high-profile names in the field.
Illinois native Doug Ghim was the leader at the end of Thursday’s first round after firing a 9-under par 62. That was enough for a one-shot advantage over Homa and fellow American Aaron Eckroat.
What was the cut at the 2025 John Deere Classic?
As is the case for the vast majority of PGA Tour events, the field is cut after the conclusion of the second round on Friday.
The top 65 players and ties made the cut, which ended up being 5-under par.
2025 John Deere Classic prize money: how much does the winner get?
The John Deere Classic is the third least lucrative regular-season event on the PGA Tour in 2025, with a total prize purse of “only” $8.4 million.
Of that total, the winner will take home $1,512,000, with the runner-up collecting just under seven figures ($915,600).
