LIV Golf’s season-ending championship event that takes place from Oct. 27-20, is set to have one of the richest purses in the history of professional golf. According to ESPN, LIV golfers will compete for an enormous purse of $50 million when they take to Trump National Doral in Miami.

How seeding is determined at LIV season-ending championship

In a variety of competitions including head-to-head knockouts and match play, twelve four-man teams will be competing. Seeding teams from 1-12, the top four seeds will receive a bye to the quarterfinals. The other eight will compete in qualifying rounds. Seeding is determined by a closest-to-the-pin shootout, which will take place after the teams are drafted.

Massive money at final event of LIV Golf season

The team in first place is slated to collect $16 million, while the runners-up will take home $10 million. The third place will receive $8 million and fourth place will bank $4 million. The teams that finish 5th-9th will land $2 million, and the last three placed teams will take home $1 million between them.

This is a huge statement from LIV, especially after the PGA Tour raised the purse of the Tour Championship to an unprecedented $75 million, of which winner Rory McIlroy took home $18 million.

But while the money is massive, it is not enough to keep LIV Golf players around in events organised by the PGA Tour. All players who converted to the Saudi-backed tour are ineligible to participate in any of the PGA Tour events, including the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup.
