The Country Club in Brookline, MA, is one of golf’s most historic courses. It has hosted several major events over the years and has already kicked off the 122nd U.S. Open tournament today through Sunday, June 19.
One of the five charter clubs in the USGA, the Brookline Country Club has been the site of this tournament a total of four times (this year included) and has played host to the Ryder Cup only once before. It’s also hosted several U.S. Amateur tournaments for men’s and women’s players.

2013 U.S. Amateur
The last time the U.S. Amateur was played in Brookline was nine years ago when Matt Fitzgerald won the event, enjoying seven professional victories. His best finish came last month at the PGA Championship, where he placed T-5th.

1999 Ryder Cup
One of the most famous Ryder Cups in the history of golf and last one of the 20th century took place in Brookline. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson pulled off one of the most memorable comebacks in the history of the tournament for the USA, with Justin Leonard making a pronounced winning putt on the 17th hole.
1995 U.S. Women’s Amateur
Right in Massachusetts at the 1995 Women’s Amateur, American Kellie Kuehne defeated Australia’s Anne-Marie Knight by three strokes.
1988 U.S. Open
The 1988 U.S. Open is the most recent Open tournament played in Brookline. It was also the 75th anniversary of Francis Ouimet’s historic Brookline victory in 1913.
Curtis Strange claimed his first major championship defeating Nick Faldo, before successfully defending his title the year after, becoming one of eight golfers who won the event in consecutive years.
1982 U.S. Amateur
Jay Sigel’s victory at the Country Club in 1982 echoed his decent golf career.
1963 U.S. Open
Julius Boros won the U.S. Open in 1963 in an 18-hole playoff vs Jacky Cupit and the outstanding Arnold Palmer. His winning score of plus-9 is the highest at the U.S. Open since the conclusion of World War II in 1945.
