The 2022 U.S. Open is taking place at The Country Club in Brookline, MA with the first round starting today, on Thursday, June 16th.

This is the third of four major championships to be played annually. U.S. Open champions are automatically invited to play at the Masters, the Open Championship (British Open), and the PGA Championship) for the coming five years, earning a ten-year exemption from qualifying for the U.S. Open.

The champions also receive membership on the PGA Tour for the following five seasons following their victories.

Who has won the most US Open titles in golf?

There are four golfers who have won four U.S. Opens; Willie Anderson in 1901 and each year between 1903-1905, Bobby Jones in 1923, 1926 and consecutively in 1929-30, Ben Hogan in 1948, 1950, 1951 and 1953, and Jack Nicklaus ‘The Golden Bear’ in 1962, 1967, 1972 and 1980.

Which active player has won the most US Open titles in golf?

Hale Irwin, who is still a part of the PGA Tour Champions, and is considered one of the world’s leading golfers from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, has won the tournament three times. He is the oldest golfer to win the U.S. Open title at the age of 45 (1990).

Tiger Woods also has three wins in the event with his most recent being the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines. Furthermore, the most recent winner in the tournament has been Brooks Koepka, winning the tournament in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018. He is also favored by many to win the 2022 tournament.
