Update:

For the first time since 2017 the PGA Championship will be hosted at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s a beautiful setting for the event but a bout of inclement weather has caused major disruption.

A low-pressure system over the Mississippi has pushed moisture from the Gulf north and into North Carolina, dumping a huge amount of rain on areas through Monday morning. As such, Quail Hollow is closed to spectators for Monday’s practice sessions, with the following days also in danger.

The latest weather update from the PGA Tour warns of "steady rain and thunderstorms with strong, gusty winds" into the afternoon on Monday.

Looking ahead, things may not improve for the next couple of days. Forecasts for Tuesday and Wednesday also warn of showers and thunderstorms, with hotter temperature in the afternoon increasing the chance of storms.

Things will start to improve on Thursday as the system moves away and drier conditions are expected. However those storms could still return on Friday evening and into Saturday, a nightmare for tournament organizers.

The 2025 tournament boasts a 156-man field and Quail Hollow has been a regular on the tour in recent years. In fact, it was hosted a PGA Tour event, or similar, every year since 2003. This means that players will be fairly familiar with the 7,626-yard course and these lost practice days shouldn’t have too much impact on the final outcome.
