When will Alcaraz compete again after Wimbledon and the Hopman Cup?
The Spanish star defeated Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final and featured in the Hopman Cup with Spain, but when will he be back?
Carlos Alcaraz has become the main attraction everywhere he goes. His youth and charisma outside the courts and his talent and unique skills with the racket have made him a true star at the age of 20.
A few days ago he tasted the sweetest moment of his career by winning the Wimbledon title at the All England Club facilities in London. He played a match to remember against Djokovic in the last round of the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament, emerging victorious in five hard-fought sets.
The two-time major winner then came back to his native Murcia to spend some days with his family and friends but he quickly got back in action again for the Hopman Cup, a mixed team event that took place in Nice, where he represented Spain alongside Rebeka Masarova.
When will Alcaraz compete again?
After his successful grass court season, where he also won the Queen’s tournament, Alcaraz will have a different agenda than his last year’s.
In 2022, he decided to play on clay after being eliminated from Wimbledon by Jannik Sinner. He featured in Hamburg and Umag the following week, reaching the final in both events.
This time, though, Alcaraz will take a well-deserved rest and the Toronto Masters 1000 tournament will likely be the first one where he will compete again.
It will be a good opportunity for him to win some extra points in the ATP rankings, as he lost in the second round last year, and will be a useful transition from the Hopman Cup’s clay to hard courts.
According to his latest interviews, another 1000 Masters event, Cincinnati, is also on his radar before traveling to New York, where he will try to defend his crown and 2,000 points at the US Open, the fourth and last major of the season.
“I’m focused on Toronto. It’s a Masters 1000, a very important tournament”, he explained.
“As I’ve always said, I come to every tournament thinking I’m going to win it and believing I can win it. Right now, I’m focusing on Toronto and Cincinnati. The main goal is the US Open”, he added.
Taking into consideration that Nole won’t play in Toronto due to fatigue, both men could meet in Cincinnati or the US Open. Alcaraz will be looking to win his third major in the US, while the Serb will fight to lift his 24th Grand Slam event title.
