Novak Djokovic pulls out of the Toronto Masters due to fatigue

The Wimbledon finalist has decided to skip the tournament to get more recovery time after his Wimbledon appearance.

Update:
The Wimbledon finalist has decided to skip the tournament to get more recovery time after his Wimbledon appearance.

Once the grass season is over, it’s time for some ATP 250 clay tournaments but also some of the most important hard-courts events in the calendar, including the Masters 1000 tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati.

Carlos Alcaraz will be this year’s top attraction in Canada, as he will head to Toronto to try to win his 13th ATP title after winning the Wimbledon title in a final that will go down in history.

However, the event has suffered a big mishap, as world No, 2 Novak Djokovic has announced he won’t play in the tournament to be able to rest more time after the efforts made in Wimbledon, especially during the title match against Alcaraz.

Getting to the US Open in top shape

Djokovic, a four-time champion in Toronto, hoped to feature in the competition for the first time since 2018, but his main goal is the US Open, and he wants to play the fourth and last Grand Slam tournament of the year in the best shape possible.

“I have always enjoyed my time in Canada but after speaking with my team, we believe this is the right decision to take”, he said about his absence from the Canadian Open, which starts on August 7.

I would like to thank Karl Hale, the Tournament Director, for understanding this decision. I really hope I can return to Canada and Toronto in the coming years to play in front of great fans there”, Djokovic added.

Djokovic will be replaced in the draw by one of the standout players this year, Christopher Eubanks, who made it to the Wimbledon quarterfinals before being eliminated by Daniil Medvedev.

At 36, Nole is focused and motivated to play and win majors. He will be looking to become champion in a GS event for the 24th time in his career after winning the Australian Open and the French Open this term.
