Update:

Following the action at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, the largest women’s golf event in the world begins to ponder the next installment, one that will take place in the Netherlands for the first time.

The Solheim Cup, just like the men’s Ryder Cup, alternates between being held in the United States and in Europe, with two years – except when moved for significant global events – in between. As the sands settles on the RTJG bunkers in 2024, Bernardus Golf will be the focus for the top players aiming to make the final 12 for either Team USA or Team Europe in 2026.

The planned dates for the event are September 7-13, 2026, with the three days of competition running from Fri 11th to Sun 13th. There was plenty of excitement when the announcement of the Dutch course was made.

“We are delighted to welcome Bernardus to the Solheim Cup roster for the 20th edition of this great competition. We are confident that Bernardus will be an excellent partner with a wonderfully rich stage and environment to showcase the ladies’ incredible shot making.”

John Solheim, Chairman and CEO of Ping

As stated on the official website, ‘Bernardus Golf is a challenging 18-hole championship golf course, designed by American architect Kyle Phillips, who was also responsible for the design of world famous courses like Kingsbarns, The Grove and Yas Links.

‘Bernardus Golf was built as a heathland golf course, which makes it accessible to any golfer. The numerous bunkers are laid out beautifully and the tricky water hazards seamlessly blend in with the background of dunes, heath and gorse. A day at Bernardus gives you the ultimate feeling of peace, quiet and relaxation. Both on the course and the practice facilities; driving range, short-game area and putting greens.’
