Which team has won the most Presidents Cups? List of winners year by year

First staged in 1994, The Presidents Cup is a PGA Tour organised series of men’s golf matches between a team representing the United States and an International Team representing the rest of the world excluding Europe, with the Europe vs USA competition reserved for the higher profile Ryder Cup.

The Presidents Cup has been held biennially since ‘94 and is hosted alternately in the United States and in countries represented by the International Team with a match play format not dissimilar to that used in the Ryder Cup and consists of 12 players per side.

Each team has a captain, usually a highly respected golf figure, who is responsible for choosing the pairs in the doubles events, which consist of both alternate shot and best ball formats (also known as “foursomes” and “fourball” matches respectively). Each match, whether it be a doubles or singles match, is worth one point with a half-point awarded to each team in the event of a halved match.

With their win in Quebec on Sunday, the U.S. can now can claim 13 victories in the 15 times the competition has been staged since its inception in 1994. The lone International victory came in Australia in 1998, while the 2003 event in South Africa was tied.
